The Beehive Nurture Group
Welcome to the Beehive:
Mrs Newbury Inclusion Manager, Mental Health Lead and Deputy Safeguarding Lead
Mrs Tidball Learning Mentor and ELSA
Welcome to the Beehive. In the Beehive we offer Pastoral Care to the children in St Benedict’s. This covers Nurture Groups for Year 3, Outside Group (Sensory Play) for Year 4 and 1:1 sessions; this year we have focused on resilience. Children’s safeguarding is also a very important part of our role.
The aim of our Nurture Provision is to support the Social and Emotional development of our children. This happens in small groups, led by Mrs Tidball, with two members of staff providing role models for children. The aim of the group is to lift any barriers to learning in a supportive environment enabling the children to access the curriculum back in their classrooms. This year we have covered subjects including emotions, friendship, worries, self-confidence and resilience.
The aim of our Outside Group is to provide an environment that encourages children’s curiosity which stimulates all the senses in a way that indoor learning can’t achieve. Research has shown that children who spend time learning in a natural environment perform better in academic studies.
We all love our jobs at St Benedict’s and put the children at the centre of our day.
